Why do people migrate, and well we will find that out through the two learning objectives. the first one is why do people migrate? most people migrate for better job opportunities or to escape some sort of persecution, they can be split into two categories. the first is voluntary; for things like jobs/money, and involuntary; like escaping persecution or natural disaster. Then we had to talk about some migration trends. like how approximately 9%of the world's population are international migrants. and how Asia, Latin America, and Africa all have net out-migration which means more people are leaving than entering the country. And how north America, Europe, and Australia all have a net in migrations, which means that more people are coming in than out.

1. According to Jared Diamond, what are the three major elements that separate the world’s  “haves” from the “have nots”? The major elements are Guns, Germs, and steel. 2. Jared Diamond refers to the people of New Guinea as “among the world’s most culturally diverse and adaptable people in the world”, yet they have much less than modern Americans. Diamond has developed a theory about what has caused these huge discrepancies among different countries, and he says it boils down to geographic luck. Today in class we got a new topic, Regions, and we had to define the four different types of regions and compare and contrast them. First, we have a  formal region- an area designated by official boundaries, next is functional region- this is a place and the surrounding places affected by it, then we have vernacular region-  a distinctive area where the inhabitants collectively consider themselves interconnected by a shared history, then finally we have just a normal region-  an area or division, especially part of a country or the world having definable characteristics but not always fixed boundaries.
