1. At the time that the Spanish conquistadores invaded the Inca Empire, they were armed with state of the art weaponry. Describe this weaponry.

Some of the weapons that the Spanish had where the gun, which shot bullets but at a slow speed, steel swords, and repairs.

2. What is Jared Diamond’s explanation for why the Spanish had advanced to steel swords while Inca’s were still making tools and weapons from bronze?

Because the Incas had to take lots more time to farm, so that means there were no people who had the time to learn metallurgy and create things other than bronze.

3. How did the battle tactics used by the Spanish conquistadors help the small army defeat the  Inca army that outnumbered it by the thousands?

The Europeans used a surprise tactic on the Incas, they had tried to convert the Incas to catholicism but when they denied they destroyed them. And they capture the Inca leader, which leads to chaos in the empire.

4. According to Jared Diamond, what made the Europeans “accidental conquerors”?


The disses that the Europeans carried decimated the native populations and made them unable to fight, this made it easy to conquer people.
