Blog post #9!

Bonjour Reader, My name is Lane miller. Today we have a new key question,  "Why is each point on the earth unique?". Well, geographers use 3 different ways to describe the uniqueness of a place. They are is toponym, which is the name of the place. Like Bel-Air or Baltimore, but what if the place has the same name. If so geographers also use the "site" to show its uniqueness, this is like saying Baltimore has the harbor or Bel-Air has a rocks state park. And if that is still the same then they use the Situation. The situation is Environmental/relative. Like the Air quality, or how it looks like another place. We also had to define two terms place, a particular position or point in space. and location, a particular place or position.  We also had the five themes of Geography are Location, Place, Human-Environment Interaction, Movement, and Region.

Alright, time for our challenge. we had to answer some questions about a few maps.
1. Well, the best characteristics for a location for a settlement in 1650 would be near a river, have farmland, and be protected from naval invasion. so in that case on a list from best to worst, it would go E, C, B, D, A.
2. Site E has the best means for connections to other places. they can go inland on the river and they also have sea access.
3. I would recommend site E because they have a river for travel, suitable farmland for agriculture, and have ocean access whilst it still being protected.
4. On the map from 1850, you want a suitable place that offers some electricity and a stable foundation for tall buildings. In that case, the best location would be A because it has a waterfall behind it, which would give fast-flowing water for a suitable power source.
5. The best location on this map would be site C. Because it has suitable farmland, access to the ocean, and has coal witch is a good natural resource.
6. In my mind, it does not change any of the rankings.
